Coody + Endangered Species Protection

Coody has been proud to support and supply Coody tents to the Endangered Species Protection Agency (ESPA) for their specialist military-trained operations crew during their expedition to the northern tip of Norway. Their mission is to capture the reality of Norwegian whale hunting to trigger further investigation into the barbaric industry.

Every year, ESPA’s tents get destroyed by the harsh scandanavian climate and they wanted to find new robust tents to withstand the cold, wet and windy environment.

Coody tents’ weather-proofing combines waterproof fabric, sealed seams, cold-rated materials, robust inflatable structure, and clever ventilation design. Together, these features make them well-suited for year-round use and capable of standing up to cold rain, snow, and wind – common challenges in harsh winter camping conditions.

  • Water-proofing measures help keep snowmelt and rain out of the tent, reducing dampness and cold drafts inside.
  •
  • A stable frame reduces the risk of collapse under snow weight or during strong wind gusts – key when camping in exposed winter environments.
  •
  • Breathable and cold-rated fabrics help retain warmth while reducing interior moisture – improving comfort on cold nights.
  •
  • Efficient water and snow shedding helps avoid heavy buildup and keeps the tent envelope performing in sustained precipitation.
  •
  • Proper airflow encourages a drier internal environment – key for comfort and reducing ice buildup inside.

ESPA’s research aims to understand why Norway continues to maintain a whaling industry; the science used to determine quotas, the ethical claims used to justify modern harpooning, whale meat contaminants and the impact it has on whale stocks and the oceans.

ESPA investigators Pete and Hannah captured contemporary footage of whale hunts in action and interviewed scientists, whalers and Norwegian locals to gain insights into why Norway hunts over 500 minke whales each year.

Whale Wash’ is an investigative documentary that digs deep into the modern Norwegian whaling industry. It aims to answer the question of why Norway still hunts whales in the 21st century while many other historical whaling nations have ceased this archaic practice.
